James W. Catt, 68, of Evansville, passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2009. He was born August 10, 1941, in Vincennes, Ind.

James was a schoolteacher and band director in Edwards County, Ill. He has played music professionally since he was 13 years old, playing the saxophone and guitar in several bands. James enjoyed hunting for Indian relics with his grandfather, Joe Ferrell.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Barbara Catt; daughter, Jami Schlimmer; parents, Kenneth and Mildred Catt; and grandchildren, Alexis and Andrea Schlimmer.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Alexander West Chapel, with burial in Hazleton Community Cemetery in Hazleton, Ind. Friends may visit Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
