PRINCETON — Violet M. Hurt, 93 of Princeton, passed away Monday, Sept. 28, 2009 at the VNA Charlier Hospice in Evansville.

She was born May 1, 1916 in Princeton to Lyman and Lula (Turpin) Padgett.

She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Princeton. She was a member of the American Legion 25 Auxiliary and the VFW 1147 Auxiliary.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Bruce of Mt. Vernon, Ill.; son, John R. Hurt of Mt. Carmel, Ill. ; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great great grandchildren; her Bichon Frise companion, Lacy; three nephews, (that were close to her); and a very good friend, Babe McClure.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Ernest Martin in 1948; second husband, Arom W. Hurt in 1966; sons, James D. Martin, Allen Joe Martin and an infant son; one brother; three half brothers; and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor John Stepp officiating. Burial will be in the Odd Fellow Cemetery in Princeton.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
