Jack Nossett, 74, of Evansville passed away Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville. He was born November 30, 1934 in Princeton to Russell R. and Mildred (Butterworth) Nossett.

He was graduated from Princeton High School in 1952. He studied mathematics and physics at Oakland City College where he received an B.A. degree in 1959. He earned a masters degree in education from Indiana State University in 1963 and also studied mathematics at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.

He taught mathematics for six years in the Lawrenceville, Illinois, school system and worked 15 years for the Indiana Employment Security Division,. He later retired in the year 2000 after 18 years of employment with Southern Indiana Gas and Electric Company.

He was an avid golfer and opera aficionado who liked to say that he had heard all the great tenors of his lifetime from Lauritz Melchior in the 1940’s through Luciano Pavarotti in the 2000’s.

Surviving are his wife, Betty (Collins) Nossett of Evansville, IN; a daughter, Nancy Maria Weed and grandson Adam Jack Weed of Frederick, MD; three stepdaughters, Tiffany Thomas, Angeline Collins and Chiquita Montgomery all of Evansville; a niece Kathryn (Nash) Young of Vincennes, IN; a great niece Sara Young and a great nephew Benjamin Young both of Vincennes; and eight step grandchildren DeArron White, Bianca Collins, Iyana Fox, Ethan, Miles, and Titus Montgomery and Spencer and Camille Weed.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn (Nossett) Nash and his parents.

Private funeral arrangements for family members will be provided by Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton and a private graveside service will be Friday at Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton.
