Arkie Lou Cooper, 59, passed away Friday, Nov. 13, 2009 at his home. 

Born Nov. 1, 1950 in Vincennes, he was raised and lived in the Oakland City area for many years and formerly lived in Illinois for several years.  He was a member of the Oakland City American Legion Men’s Auxiliary.

Survivors include his father, Arkie Cooper of Oakland City; five children, Linda Lou Rankin of West Frankfort, Ill., Juanita Lynn Pierce of Browns, Ill., Shane Patrick Cooper of West Salem, Ill., Ann Marie Christian of Harrisburg, Ill., Crystal Cooper of Allendale, Ill.; five sisters, Vickie McCandless of Oakland City, Helen Dersch of Eldorado, Ill., Sharon Vore, Jewel J. Cooper and Freida D. McCandless all of Oakland City; 19 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 2009 at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City, with the Rev. Pat McCandless officiating. Burial will be at Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service hour on Monday at the funeral home.
