Barbara S. Melson, 76 of Princeton, passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2009 at her home. She was a member of the Lady Elks and a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star both in Princeton.

Barbara was born June 24, 1933 in Owensville, to Russell P. and Dierdre (Goodson) Pollard. She had lived in the Princeton area since 1971 moving here from Marion. She was a homemaker and had been a secretary at DeVoe & Reynolds. She had also worked at K-Mart.

She is survived by her son, Michael Melson of Princeton; daughter Karla (Robert) Freshwater of Augusta, Ga; four grandchildren, Chad Melson, Joshua Moore, Brandon Krieg and Kyle Krieg; 1 sister Linda Wallace of Marion; one brother Russell O. Pollard of Ashland, Mass.; an honorary son Mike Watkins of Princeton; several nieces and nephews and many good friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl Melson in December 2008, and an infant sister Ardith Yvonne Pollard.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday Nov. 25, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Rev. Craig Duke officiating. Burial will be at Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
