Marvin L. Early Sr., 83, of Oakland City, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009 at home.

Born Aug. 5, 1926 in Cloverport, Ky., he was the son of Walter and Elizabeth (Blake) Early.

He served in U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked for Mitchell Crushed Stone and Carpenter Bus Works in Mitchell. He was married to Deanna Cooper from 1954-1972. He married his current wife Anna Mae Young on Nov. 11, 1978.

Survivors include sons, Marvin L. Early Jr. of Columbia, Tenn, Ron Early of Bloomington, Ottis Early of Oakland City; daughters, Elaine Cornwell of Lawrenceville, Ill., Esther Hamilton of Crossville, Ill., DeAnna Stephens  of Oakland City; brothers, Eugene Early of Iowa, Jesse Early of Texas; sister, Joyce Moreland of Dalton, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

He was proceded in death by his parents; three sisters; one brother; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jason Clark officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Mt Olympus.

 Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. until the service hour on Saturday at the chapel.
