Charles W. Warren, 93, formerly of Fort Branch, died Sunday, Dec. 27, at Transcendent Healthcare in Owensville.

Born in Fort Branch July 7, 1916, he was the son of Kerr and Florence (Brokaw) Warren. During his years in Fort Branch he worked at Emge Packing Co. and owned the Rainbow Cafe in the 1960s.

 He was a WWII veteran, earning his paratrooper wings in 1945.

He moved to Vista, Calif., in 1956, where he worked as a union carpenter until 1972. He moved back to Evansville and worked with Wink Construction Inc. until his retirement. He was a member of North Park Wesleyan Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Dorothy (Muncy) in 1955 and his second wife Norma (Sollman) in 1965. In 1967 he married Joy Sherman, who, along with her two daughters and grandchildren, became his family for the next 33 years, until her death in 2000. Three sisters also preceded him in death, Vada (Nordgauer) Matthews in 2000, Alma Jones in 2002 and Mary Noel in 2007.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Mills of Indianapolis and Peggy Davis of Evansville, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Dec. 29 at Alexander West Chapel in Evansville. Burial was in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Fort Branch.
