Opal G. Hamer age 94 passed away Saturday Jan. 23, 2010 at the River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton. She was born Feb. 9, 1915 in Gibson County to Charles and Bessie (Kunkel) Hurst. She worked for Potter and Brumfield for 28 years retiring in 1979.

She had lived in
Princeton all of her life. She was a member of the Broadway Christian Church in Princeton since April of 1927, where she served as a Deacon on several different occasions. She was a member of the American Legion Aux. for over 50 years and a member of the Senior Citizens Club.

Opal is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Larry and Shirley Hamer of Palm Bay, FL, Gary Kim and Patsy Hamer of Oneida NY, eight grandchildren: Greg Hamer of Georgia, Jeff Hamer of Florida, Angela Hamer of Owensboro, KY, Dwayne Hamer of Florida, Marnie Sagraves of Charlotte, NC, Tracey Hamer of Bali, Indonesia, Holly Hamer of Lake Tahoo, CA and Katie Hanifin of Oneida, NY, ten great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don Hamer on
Oct. 25, 1969, two sisters; Bernice Embree and Jean Frye, two brothers; infant Charles Robert Hurst and Kenneth Hurst.

Funeral Services will be
10 a.m. Wednesday at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Rev. John Dunn officiating. Burial will be in the Decker Cemetery, rural Patoka. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
