Janice M. Mathis, 66, passed away Friday Feb. 12, 2010 at home.

Born Jan. 3, 1944 in Washington, Ind., she was the daughter of Legora Ambrose and Violet May (Capehart) Raney.

She worked for 16 years as QMA at Lodge of Wabash in Vincennes and attended Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church in Somerville.

Survivors include her daughter, Tammy Nieves of Princeton; son, Troy Poindexter of Vincennes; six grandchildren;  special friend, Robert Mathis; sisters, Evelyn Lents, Vera Shake and Betty Sullivan all of Washington, Ind.

 She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Margie Raney; brothers, Robert, Ambrose (Bud), Kenneth, and Donald Raney; and her first husband, James Poindexter in 1984.  

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 15, 2010 at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel in Oakland City with Rev. Dan Caldwell officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Washington, Ind.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. until the service hour on Monday at the chapel.
