Blanche Braselton Robinson, 92, formerly of Vincennes, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010 at Hanover Nursing Center in Hanover

Born July 4, 1917 in Patoka, she was the daughter of Orval and Lillis (Slinker) Braselton. 

Blanche graduated from Patoka High School with the class of 1935.  After graduation, she worked at the Patoka Post Office and was a waitress at Aunt Pearl’s Coffee Shop in Patoka until her marriage Feb. 8, 1941 to Vernon “Bill” Robinson. 

Bill and Blanche were longtime Decker Township farmers and raised two children on the farm.  Blanche also worked as a cook at Decker High School, ward clerk for Good Samaritan Hospital and as a tour guide for the William Henry Harrison mansion in Vincennes.  She was a volunteer for the first hospice program at Good Samaritan Hospital and cared for many people in the Vincennes area for several years.

 Blanche was a 65-year member of the Decker Chapel United Methodist Church and was very active throughout her Christian life as a Sunday school teacher, pianist and prepared the homemade juice and bread for each communion.  She enjoyed church functions, music, gardening, quilting and spending time with all her family and friends.  She moved from the Vincennes farm in 2005 to Hanover Nursing Center to be near her daughter.

 Blanche will be sadly missed by her loving family which included, her son, Joe “Danny” Robinson and his wife, Kathy of Springfield, Ohio; daughter, Anne Saxe and her husband, Phil of Dupont; grandson, Brandon Robinson and his wife Sharon of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two granddaughters, Stephanie Storie and her husband Ron of Kennesaw, Ga., Rachel Saxe and Jay Koehler of Madison; nine great-grandchildren, Lacey, Zachariah, Ashton, Taylor, Autumn Marie, Morgan, Brooklyn, Tayla and Kira;  two  brothers, Jack Braselton and his wife, Ruthann of Melbourne, Fla., Fred Braselton and his wife, Lois of Princeton;  as well as several loving nieces and nephews. 

Blanche was preceded in death by her parents; husband,  Bill on Sept. 17, 1967; six brothers, Filmore, Jimmy, Roscoe, Gene, Joe and Victor Braselton;  and sister, Williamina “Willie” Russell.

 Funeral services to celebrate Blanche’s life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 at the Decker Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Huntsman and Rev. Evelyn Owen officiating.  Following the service, she will be laid to rest in the Hazleton I.O.O.F. cemetery. 

Friends are invited to visit and share memories of Blanche with the family on Saturday from noon until the service time at the church.
