Jean M. Akers, 42 of Hazleton, Indiana passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton. She was born December 18, 1967 in Evansville, IN to Edward & Paula (McCammon) Schnautz. She had lived in Hazleton since 1982 coming from Knox County. She was a graduate of the PCHS class of 1986. She worked with animal rescue through the Humane Society. She enjoyed her horses and other animals.

She is preceded in death by her father, Edward Schnautz; grandfather, Paul McCammon; and a brother, Daniel Schnautz.

Jean is survived by her husband, Jeff Akers of Hazleton; 3 children, Daniel Jeffrey Akers, Samantha Rose Akers, and Hannah Mackenzie Akers all at home; mother, Paula Schnautz of Hazleton; 2 step children, Tiffany Parker of Texas and Ian Akers of Francisco; 3 grandchildren, Payton Parker, Preston Parker and Alexia Akers; sister, Julie Nagle of New Jersey; and her grandmother, Lilly McCammon of Evansville.

Funeral Services will be held at
10 A.M. Thursday February 25, 2010 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Father Ronald Zgunda officiating. Burial will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 P.M. on Wednesday at Colvin Funeral Home.
