Joseph A. Sherman, 89, of Kimball, passed away Friday, Feb. 19, 2010 at Kimball Health Services.

Born July 7, 1920 in Hazleton, he was the son of David and Esther (Yaden) Sherman.

He was raised and attended school in Hazleton and graduated from Hazleton High school in 1938. He was married to Levanna Schoultz in Mt. Carmel, Ill. on March 22, 1941.

He served in the European Theater during WWII. He was a longtime employee of Schlumberger and Haliburton.

Survivors include sons, Jowain (Linda) Sherman of Kimball, Leonard (Marjorie) Sherman of Loveland, Colo.; brother, James (Dessie) Sherman of Princeton; sister, Mary Esther Krug of Hazleton; seven grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Levanna in November 1988; 10 brothers and sisters; and one grandson.

Funeral services were on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Jared Hunsaker officiating. Burial was in the Kimball Cemetery.
