Zeke R. Smith, 90, passed away on Monday February 22, 2010 at his home in Princeton, IN. He was born November 2, 1919 in Girard, KS, the son of Ralph Hewitt and Lena (Martin) Smith, both deceased. He retired in 1982 from Potter & Brumfield/Siemens as Vice President of Engineering after 27 years. Following graduation from Pittsburg, KS Teaching College with a BA in Physics, he served in the Civil Service at Scott Field, IL and Boca Raton Air Force Base as a radar instructor. Zeke was a 50-year member of the Masons and a 50 year Legion of Honor Kiwanian. He and his wife founded and were co-chairs of the Arts Council of Gibson County from 1990-2005 until they retired. They were awarded the Individual Achievement Award in Arts and Education in 1998. Zeke was a member and was instrumental in the growth of Hillside UMC and a member of the church choir for over 50 years.

Zeke is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Betty (Dorsey) Smith; children and their spouses, Cindy (Phil) Hofman, Scott (Karen) Smith, Maddy (Art) Mitchem and Craig (Jancey) Smith; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at
2 PM on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Hillside United Methodist Church in Princeton with Rev Craig Duke, Rev Brian Cook and Rev Jarmon Perkins officiating. Burial will be in the Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be from 3 until 8 PM on Saturday at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton and from 1 PM until service time on Sunday at the church.
