Robert G. Melton, 80, of Princeton, passed away on Sunday March 7, 2010 at his winter home in Sarasota, Fla. 

Robert was born on May 22, 1929 in Casey, Ill. to Greenough and Mary Louise (Clark) Melton.

He retired in 1994 as a truck driver for A&H Trucking with Teamsters Local 215.  He  was a U.S. Navy veteran.  He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  He was a member of American Legion Post 25, VFW Post 1147 and VFW Post 2714.  He was also a member of the Cynthiana Masonic Lodge and the Hadi Shrine.

He is survived by his three daughters, Robin Randell of Princeton, Scarlet Rose Ice of Hazleton, Jenny Lou Bennet of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; one son, Robert P. Melton of Princeton; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; the love of his life, Eulala Brooks of Sarasota, Fla.; and his special friend, Chigger.

 He was preceded in death by his first wife, Genevieve (Barrett) Melton in 1975; second wife, Phyllis Melton in 2002; daughter, Michaella Odom in 2008; son, Steven Melton in 1991; granddaughter, Emily Ice Griswold in 2007; and two sisters.

 Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2010 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Gary Arnold officiating.   Burial will be in the Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton.  VFW Post 1147 will provide military graveside services at the cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
