Charles A. "Charlie" Zenthoefer, 95, passed away Monday, March 29, 2010 at The Heritage Center in Evansville.

Born Dec. 1, 1914 in St. Wendel, he was the son of Peter and Christina (Wassmer) Zenthoefer

He resided most of his life in Haubstadt.  He retired from Whirlpool Corp.

He was a member of St. James Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II.

He was also a member of American Legion Post 194 in Haubstadt as well as V.F.W. Post 1114 and Order of the Owls in Evansville.  He enjoyed dancing and playing cards.

Survivors include a sister, Hilda Ziliak of Evansville; six nieces; Rita Elpers, Betty Goebel, Janet Wilson, Rose Weiss, Judy Stone, Mary Beth McDonald; seven nephews, Bill and Joe Rettig, Tom, Dan and Michael Ziliak and Larry and Jim Will. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Victoria Rettig, Mildred Will; two brothers, Edwin “Doc” and Oscar Zenthoefer; and a niece, Marilyn Vessels.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church with Father Kenneth Betz as the celebrant.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 194 and V.F.W. Post 2714. 

Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at Wade Funeral Home with a Rosary service at 7 p.m.  Friends may also call from 9 a.m. until Mass time Wednesday at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
