Tommie A. Basham Jr., 78, of Owensville, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at his home.

He was born Feb. 22, 1932 in Sugar Grove, Ky., son of Tommie A. and Leona (Daugherty) Basham. His parents preceded him in death.

He served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve for 40 years and was a member of Fort Branch VFW Post 2714. He retired from Whirlpool Corp. in Evansville.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Shirley (Hill) Basham; four children, Tommie A. (Rose) Basham III of Owensville, Daniel Basham of Princeton, Rebecca (Mike) Lenart of Wyoming, and Kimberley (Steve) Myers of Madison. Also is surviving is a brother, Bill Basham of Kentucky, and a sister, Juanita Claspell of Evansville; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Stodghill Funeral Home on Ind. 168 West in Fort Branch. James Cramer will officiate. Graveside military services will be conducted Monday in Madison at the Indiana Veterans Cemetery at 2 p.m. Visitation is Sunday at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m.
