Ethel L. (Barrett) Beard, 84, of Anderson, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Bethany Pointe following an extended illness.

 She was born on April 7, 1926 to Hovey and Mary Ethel (Rutter) Barrett in Princeton where she lived until moving to Anderson in 1998.

She was a dental assistant, and then she was the bookkeeper for Beard Monument Sales.

She graduated from Princeton High School in 1944.  She was a member of East Side Church of God and a former member of Princeton First Church of God where she was very active in the music program and women of the Church of God. She enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include her sons, Doug (Nancy) Beard of Anderson, Ind., Greg (Beth) Beard of Irvine, Calif.; brother, Don (Bonnie) Barrett of Evansville, Ind.; an uncle, Ed (Susie) Rutter of Anderson, Ind.; five grandchildren, Rachel (Brian) Simpson of Ingalls, Ind., Sarah Beard of Pendleton, Ind., Abby Beard of Anderson, Ind., Jaclyn Beard of Irvine, Calif., Bryan Beard of Irvine, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert W. Beard on March 11, 1998, sister, Carol Kuester; brother, Charles Barrett; and  half-brother, Raymond Barrett.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Princeton First Church of God. Burial will be in Columbia White Church Cemetery

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2010 Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service in Anderson and 4-8 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010  at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton.
