Orvil L. Reibold, 89, passed away Friday, May 14, 2010 at home in Princeton. His daughter was with him at the time.

He was born Feb. 4, 1921 in Mackey and resided there until moving to Princeton in 1986 at the time of his retirement from being a life long farmer.

He was a member of St. Matthew Church in Lynnville. He was a past-director of the Gibson County Co-op. He was a charter member of Barton Lion’s Club, where he held many offices. He was a trustee for Indiana Lion’s Leader Dog program and was also the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow Award through Lion’s Club International Foundation. He enjoyed traveling and vacationing with his family and loved flower gardening.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Faye and Steven Schmaltz of Mitchell; two grandchildren, Julie (James) Freeman of Salem, Derrick (Lesley) Schmaltz of Palmyra; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Lula (Pflug) Reibold; sisters, Elsa Reibold in infancy and Eleanor O'Neal; brothers, Oscar and Wilmer Reibold; and his wife of 54 years in 2002, Mary Agnes Reibold.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. CDT Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at St. Matthew Church, 3044 Somerville Road in Lynnville, with Pastor Ron Gates and the Rev. William Tollas officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Matthew Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. CDT Monday at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service hour at the church. There will be a Lion's Club memorial service at 7 p.m. CDT Monday at the funeral home.
