Nathan Gilbert Roe, 79, of Winslow, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010 at V.N.A Charlier Hospice Care in Evansville.

Born Jan. 1, 1931 in Pike County, he was the son of Gilbert and Virginia (Harper) Roe.

He was retired after 20 years in the U.S. Army, serving during Korean and Vietnam wars, life member of V.F.W. Post  3507, life member D.A.V. in Jasper, American Legion Post  115 Winslow and Oakland City Eagles and a member of the Arthur General Baptist Church.

He owned and operated Roe Refrigeration and had owned the Cozy Cove Restaurant in Oakland City.

Survivors include two sons, David E. Roe of Morganfield, Ky., Stephen M.Roe of Naples, Fla.; daughters, Diane Hanes of Evansville, Natalie L. Swaney of Cape Coral, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. (central) Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel in Oakland City, with Rev. Jordan Roe officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Winslow.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service hour on Saturday.
