Rudolph Darrell Ashby, 73, of Capitan, N.M., passed away Saturday, May 10, 2010.

Born Sept. 19, 1936 in Princeton, he was the son of Rudolph and Helen (Jones) Ashby.

He was retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service as a missle instructor. After he retired, he worked with civil service for 13 years as an instructor to NATO. He was a school bus driver in Capitan and workked at Billy the Kid Casino as a slot attendent. He was also employed at Walmart as a greeter. He also worked at the Fort Stanton Hospital in the rehab department.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Ann; daughter, Tonia; son Rudy (Victoria); and three grandchildren.

Graveside services with military honors were Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Fort Stanton Cemetery.

LaGrone Funeral Chapel of Ruidoso, N.M. handled arrangements.
