Mitzi J. Hartley 71 of Oakland City, passed away Monday May 17, 2010 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

Born Dec. 25, 1938 in Somerville, he was the son of George William Elpha (Drew) Briggs.

She was a member of the Oakland City American Legion Post 256 auxiliary where she was past president and honorary life member. She was also a member of the Oakland City F.O.E. Aerie 4288 auxiliary. 

She was preceded in death by parents; her first husband,  Alexander Mason Lough; and three grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Ron Hartley; children, Tammie (Danny) Jines of Princeton, Teresa Williams of Harrisburg, Ill., Gary (Lisa) Lough, Tracey (Kent) Stafford both of Petersburg, Thelma (Telvis) Bell of Somerville, Julie (Robert) Oakman of Winslow, Rachael (Matthew) Hartley-Smith of Pendleton; sisters, Shirley French of Hollow Rock, Tenn., Billie Pavey and Georgia (Donnie) Curtis both Princeton, Marna (Rod) Miller of Oakland City, Elizabeth (Tom) Ruble of Evansville Vickie (Charlie) McGowan of Union; brothers,  Mike (Brenda) Briggs of Oakland City, Pat (Bea) Briggs of Princeton, Jay (Charlie) Briggs of Holland, Bobby Briggs of Indianapolis, David (Lori) Briggs of Washington; 25 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great greatgrandchild

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday May 21, 2010 at at Oak Grove General Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Martin Cemetery near Littles.

Visitation was 6-8 p.m.Thursday at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel and from 8 a.m. until the service hour on Friday.
