Harold Kirby Armstrong, 86, of Owensville, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010.

Born Feb. 14, 1924, he was the son of Arthur and Edna Bell (McClurkin) Armstrong.

He married Esther Luella Riggs on Sept. 22, 1945.

Harold was a lifelong farmer and soil conservationist in Gibson County. He was a past member of the Rural Youth Group, Rural Couples Club, Princeton High School Class of 1942 and Purdue University. He was a life member and Elder at the Princeton United Presbyterian Church.

Harold and his wife of 65 years traveled throughout the continental United States and for their 50th wedding anniversary traveled to Alaska. They also enjoyed wintering and vacation in Florida.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Theresa Ann Armstrong, Kimberly Beth Armstrong both of Princeton; two sons, Harold Keith Armstrong and wife Sarah of Princeton, Mark Kirby Armstrong and wife Karen of Owensville; one sister, Mary Eleanor Hyneman and husband Charles; three granddaughters, Kendra Ann Meade and husband Lance of Iowa, Susannah Kim Rogers and husband Scott of Wisconsin,  Janessa Marie Armstrong of Evansville;  two grandsons, Jordan Conaway and Avery Hartley of Owensville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Henry, sister, Nancy Fern Wright; and brother, Joe Arch Armstrong.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Holders Funeral Home in Owensville with the Rev. Tarrell Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
