Karen S. McCarthy, 74 passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.

Born Oct. 28, 1935 in Johnson, she was the daughter of Doris and Edna (Overton) Curl.  

Karen resided in Haubstadt the last four years moving from Jacksonville, Fla.  She was a retired bookkeeper at The Devine Co. in Jacksonville.

She was a member of Fort Branch General Baptist Church.  She loved  reading and crossword puzzles.  She was also an animal lover.

Survivors include a son, Mark of Jacksonville, Fla.; six sisters,  Barbara Patterson of Olathe, Kan., Joyce (Cleo) Schoultz of Fort Collins, Colo., Jean King of Evansville, Janet (Larry) Georges  and Penny (Shelby) Stevens all of Fort Branch, Nona (Chip) Shrode of Evansville; two brothers,  Terry (Marsha) Curl of Fort Branch, Tony Curl of Evansville; 13 nieces; nine nephews;  and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald on May 26, 2010; and a sister, Judy Mason.

Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wade Funeral Home in Haubstadt with graveside services following at 2:45 p.m. at Park Lawn Cemetery in Evansville.
