Effie Lee Nixon Pipkin, 80, of Oakland City, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2010 as a result of motor vehicle accident.

Born April 18, 1930 in Pike County, she was the daughter of Henry and Mary (Grubb) Nixon.

She was a member of First Church of The Nazarene and ladies fellowship. She was a church greeter and helped in the nursery. She was a member of Oakland City American Legion Post 467 Auxiliary,  Work at Kleen Rite Kleaners, and retired after many years as a supervisor of house keeping at Wirth Hospital. She enjoyed helping at the East Gibson Food Pantry.

Survivors include sisters,  Eula Miller of Oakland City, Wilma Bottoms of Somerville; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles “Buck” Pipkin; two brothers; and three sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2010 at the First Church Of The Nazarene with the Rev. Darin D.Nossett officiating. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery near Oakland City.

 Visitation was 2-7 p.m. Sunday at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel and from 8 a.m. until the service hour Monday at the church.
