Pollyanna Mains, 86 of Princeton passed away Tuesday June 22, 2010 at the Gibson General Hospital in Princeton.

She was born in southern Illinois on April 15, 1924 to Arthur and Peggy (Hanna) Nelson.

She graduated from high school in Marshall, Ill. and attended Carbondale University. She worked for the Western Union in several cities and was the manager of the Mt. Carmel office. She and her husband Dale were married Nov. 24, 1946. She and her husband Dale were the owner/operators of the Princeton Gardens Greenhouses for 30 years. She was a member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization, Daughters of the Nile and a member of the Methodist Church. She was a member of the Gibson General Hospital Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to several bridge clubs.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dale Mains of Princeton; sons, Bill Mains of Columbus Ohio, Jim and Ellen Mains of St. Louis, Mo.; son-in-law and his wife, Mac and Angie Ford of Princeton; four grandchildren, Mackenzie Ford of Boston, Mass., Christy Ford of Chicago, Ill., Jarrod Mains of Hollywood, Fla. and Tyler Mains of Baltimore, Md.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Margaret (Mains) Ford; and a sister, Betty (Nelson) Haugh.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Jarmon Perkins officiating. Burial will be in the Archer Cemetery in Princeton at a later date.

Visitation  will be noon until the service hour on Saturday at Colvin Funeral Home.
