Catherine "LaRae" Mason, 81 of Oakland City, Indiana passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at her home. LaRae was born March 24, 1929 in Oakland City. She served 3 terms as the Justice of the Peace in Oakland City. She was a lifelong member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Oakland City, where she recently received the Brute' Award.

She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, James Dee and Kama Mason; daughter & companion, Peggy Ann Mason and Tim Gibson; daughter & son-in-law, Cathy and Rick Marshall; 10 grandchildren, Daniel Curtis Mason and partner John Nordgauer, Michael Patrick (Lori) Mason, Stephanie (Travis) Thorton, Kabreea Frye, Cara (Jimmy) King, Chris (Jennifer) Cundiff, W.D. Cundiff, Brian (Shannon) Schoonover, Eric Schoonover and Jaimee Schoonover; 3 step grandchildren, Chris, Derrick and Ericka Marshall; 12 great grandchildren, Samuel, Alli, Berlin Nicole, Skyler, Michael T, Kailey, Jimmy, Caroline, Layla Jade, Jakob, Houson Dee and Bailey Bree; and her loving neighbor, caregiver and friend, Marna Miller.

Preceded in death by parents, Curtis and Lillian White; husband, Marlon Dee Mason in 2003; son, Michael Lee Mason in 2007; and brothers and sister-in-law, Lester (Margie) White and William White.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday July 10, 2010 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Oakland City. The celebrants will be Fr. Bernie Etienne and Fr. Ronald Zgunda. Burial will be at the Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City. There will be no visitation. Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City is in charge of arrangements.
