Michael Dewey Jack Carter, 20, of Decker, went to be with God on July 19, 2010.

Born Nov. 11, 1989 in Princeton, he was the son of Eric and Mary (Horrall) Carter.

Michael had worked as an EMT for Knox County ambulance and worked for Knox County central dispatch. He was a member of the Decker Chapel United Methodist Church and attended Thursday church. A graduate of the 2008 class at South Knox, he was attending Vincennes University and had an EMT certificate. He was a 10 year member of 4-H in Gibson County where he was poultry superintendent and also showed cattle. Michael loved helping others, and had a big heart.

 Survivors include his parents, Eric and Mary Carter of Decker; brothers, Zachary and Hunter Carter; grandparents, Mike and Donna Carter of Decker, Jane and Jack Horrall of Hazleton; great-grandmother, Bertha Murphy of Vincennes; aunts and uncles, Randy and Martha Penner, Chris and Kristy Keller, Brett and Elizabeth Carter; nieces and nephews, Morgan Carter, Ashton, Lauren, and Katie Keller.

 A celebration of Michael’s life will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2010 at Goodwin Funeral Home in Vincennes with Rev. Debbie Salters officiating. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery near Hazleton.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
