Denver D. Hopkins, 95, of Oakland City, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Good Samaritan Home and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Dec. 13, 1914, he was the son of James C. Hopkins and Ada Catherine Sigler.  

He attended Shady Grove, Ky. Elementary and High School. He joined the US Navy during World War II.  He owned and operated the Hopkins Market in Evansville for 23 years. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.  He was married to Margorie Travis for 50 years.

Survivors include a step-son Ron Mason and wife, Lois of  Huntingburg; two step-daughters, Ruth Ann Fowler of Moline, Ill., Sharon Henke of Ellisville, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. (central) Wednesday at Melton Funeral Home, 206 Cedar St., Providence, Ky. with the Rev. Ralph Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery at Shady Grove, Ky.

Visitation is 10 a.m. until the service hour Wednesday at the funeral home.
