David A. Jines, Sr., 82, of Princeton, passed away Monday, Aug. 9, 2010 at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton

David was born on Aug. 14, 1927 in Princeton to Ottie and Margaret (Barrett) Jines Sr.

He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force for 22 years. He worked in maintenance at Good Samaritan Nursing Home for more than 10 years.  He was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Princeton.  He was also a member of the VFW Post 1147 and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Louwanna Jines of Princeton; two brothers, Robert J. and Ottie Jines Jr. both of Princeton;  seven children, Jerry (Peggy) Jines, Larry Jines, Danny (Tammie) Jines, David Jines all of Princeton, Robert Sutton of Daytona Beach, Fla., Tonia Hedge of Paoli, Tracey Brown of Florida; 11 grandchildren, Chris Jines, Jennifer Summitt, Kevin Jines, Joshua Jines, Jeannie Sutton, Robert Sutton Jr., Elizabeth, William III and Joshua Brown, Melanie and Allison Hedge; and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean M. Jines in 2004; and sisters, Mildred Skelton, Virginia Boyd and Wanda Wade.

 Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug.12, 2010 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Rev. John Stepp officiating.  Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton.  VFW Post 1147 will conduct military graveside services.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
