Margaret Ann (McGuire) Greubel Adler, beloved mother and grandmother, entered new life in Jesus Christ on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010.

Born Oct. 13, 1917 in Hamilton County, Ill., she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (Fyre) McGuire.

She attended a one-room school in Logansport, Ill. for five years before moving with the family to Fort Branch in 1929. 

Margaret attended Fort Branch Junior and Senior High schools, graduating as valedictorian in the class of 1935. On Nov. 23, 1939, Margaret married, George V. Greubel who died in 1967.  In 1975, Margaret married Eugene O. Adler who passed away in 2003. Margaret enjoyed geneology and traveling.

Margaret worked at Emge Packing Co., in the payroll department in Fort Branch for a total of 38 years, beginning there at age 18 and retiring in 1980.

She was a member of Holy Cross Parish in Fort Branch. She was active in the alter society, serving as president for several terms.  She was also active in the Daughters Of Isabella  since 1936. Margaret was a member of the Tri-State Genealogical Society. On May 14, 2008,  Margaret received the Mother Teresa Service Award presented to her by Bishop Gettelfinger.

Margaret leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Nancy Mahoney (Dennis Latimer) of Springfield, Ohio, Sara Allen (Theodore Allen) of Indianapolis, Jane Phung (Paul Phung) of Chantilly, Va., Diana Adler McGarth (Dan McGarth) of Terre Haute; her beloved grandchildren, Tara Allen (Andy Cunningham), Ted Allen II, (Jennifer), Shannon Horstmann (Shane), Jennifer and  Jessica Phung, Maureen McGrath (Darrin Willard), Melissa Harrigan (Sean) and Daniel McGrath IV (Natalie).

Her “pride and joy” were her three great-granddaughters, Brooklyn and Taylor Horstmann and Sydney Allen.Margaret leaves one brother, Bernard McGuire of Owensville, Mo.

A Mass of resurrection will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch with Father Tony Ernst and Father Bernard Lutz officiating.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch. Burial will be at a later date.
