Mary Helen Scully, 83, of Newburgh, formerly from Fort Branch, passed away Monday, Oct. 4, 2010 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.

Born Oct. 14, 1926 in New York, N.Y., on, she was the daughter of Manuel and Manuela Gonzalez, both of whom emigrated to the U.S. from Spain.

Mary was a member of the Fort Branch United Methodist Church for many years. She was a wife and mother who worked as a salesperson, assembler and other various jobs.  In earlier years, Mary enjoyed volunteering, gardening, and traveling.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, bingo and watching old movies.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathlene Carter of Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Arlene Scully of Evansville; grandchildren, Jonathan “Jon” Scully of Newburgh, Jeffrey Drews of Knoxville, Tenn., Jason Carter of Melbourne, Fla., Justin Carter of Patchogue, N.Y., Mellissa Bravato of Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.; and two great-grandchildren, Cole and Cassidy Bravato.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Manuel. 

Private burial will be on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Fort Branch.

There will be no visitation but a memorial service will be take place at a later date.
