Lois M. Block, 90, of Fort Branch, passed away Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010 at Heritage Center in Evansville where she has resided the last seven years.

Born June 9, 1920 in Mt. Olympus, she was the daughter of Mark and Nannie (Whiting) Ford. 

She graduated from Mt. Olympus High School in 1938.

Norman and Lois farmed in Gibson County. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and active in the Women’s Guild.

She is survived by a son, Edward Block, and his wife DeAnna of Princeton; three daughters, Barbara Antrim and her husband Richard of Mooresville, Patricia Hufford and her husband Bruce of Lafayette, Ida Block of Henderson Ky.; seven grandchildren, Bryce and Scott Hufford, Vincent, Amy and Laura Antrim, Brian and Beth Block; three great-grandchildren, Matthew and Andrew Hufford and Kaitlyn Kendall.

Lois was one of nine children and is survived by brothers Earl Ford of Patoka, Mark Ford Jr. of Robinson Ill., and Joe Ford of Poseyville

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Norman A. Block in 2003; sisters, Pauline Harbison, Mary Helen Schroeder; and brothers,  Ernest, Jerald and Ralph Ford.

With gratitude the family thanks the staff of the Heritage Center for their loving, professional care for Lois over the last seven years. She enjoyed the many activities and interaction with residents and staff.  We also thank her personal physician Dr. Quentin Emerson.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2010 at St. Paul’s UCC in Fort Branch (Ind. 168E) with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation was 3-7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010 at Stodghill Funeral Home on Ind. 168W in Fort Branch.
