Byron E Darrah, 92, formerly of Scottsburg, passed away Friday, Dec. 17 2010 at Four Seasons Healthcare Center in Columbus.

Born March 4 1918 in New Washington, he was the son of Leslie M Darrah and Nora Mount Darrah.

He was an electrical engineer and project engineer with Duke Energy. He attended Purdue University, was a member of Princeton Christian Church previously serving as elder, was a former elder and member of First Christian Church of Scottsburg, past member of Princeton Rotary and was active in Little League as an umpire and coach.

Survivors include a son, Rod Darrah ( Martha) of Dayton Ohio; daughters, Jacqueline D.   (Sherman) Franz of Columbus,  Jill Wright of Princeton; 10 grandchildren, S. Edward Franz, Stephen J Franz, Michael A Franz, Byron C Darrah, Paul S Darrah, Matthew Darrah, Jason R Darrah, Amanda L. Darrah Grieve, Darrah Lynn Gonzalez,  Lance R Wright; 14 great-grandchildren, Jonathon Franz, S. David Franz, Megan E Granz, Lauren E Granz, Elliott P Granz, Morgan Darrah, Erin Darrah, John William Darrah, Mason R Darrah, Carter Darrah, Zane Wright, Michael Wright, Rosa Gonzalez, Julia Gonzalez, and a future little miss yet to be born; a brother Arthur Darrah of Alexandria; a sister Betty Lodge (Lars) Hendrickson of  Denton Texas. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Alice on June 18, 2010; a son, A. William Darrah; three brothers; and seven sisters. 

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31 2010 at Stewart & Hoagland Funeral Home, 80 N. First St. in Scottsburg with elder Robin Fortner officiating. Burial will be in Scottsburg Cemetery.

Visitation will be noon until the service hour on Friday at the funeral home.
