The death of Mrs. James R Daugherty, 56, occurred last evening at 11:08 o’clock at her home, 136 west Market street, following an illness of eight years, during which she suffered with diabetes and a complication of diseases.

She was able most of that time to be up and about her home, and only in the past few days had her condition grown to be serious.  On Sunday morning it was thought that she was improving and she felt well enough to join her husband at lunch at noon.

Before her marriage to James Daugherty, September 4, 1894 she was Effie Brock.  She was born March 26, 1875 near Princeton, Indiana.

Shortly after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Daugherty came to this city and had resided here since that time.  She united with the Presbyterian church about 1897 but on account of poor health was not able to attend regularly during late years.

Mrs. Daugherty is survived by her husband and two brothers, one of near Princeton and another of Los Angeles, California.

Private funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock from the home on west Market street and will be conducted by the Rev. C. E. Lamale, pastor of the Presbyterian church.

Friends are asked kindly not to send flowers.

The remains will be taken to Indianapolis for cremation and the ashes will be removed to the family cemetery near Princeton where they will be laid away.
