Mrs. Ruth Jones Elliott  (Special to The Clarion-News) 


HAZLETON, Ind., July 23.--Mrs. Ruth Jones Elliott, 40, wife of Curtner Elliott  and well-known resident of the Shiloh neighborhood east of here, passed away  at 7 o'clock Wednesday evening at the Methodist hospital at Indianapolis,  where she had been for six weeks.  Mrs. Elliott underwent an operation Monday and apparently was getting along nicely. 

Funeral arrangements have not been made. 


Surviving are:  the husband, Curtner Elliott; five sons, Herman, Curtner,  Jr., Gordon, Bryant and Shirley; a sister, Mrs Emma Townsley, of Princeton; a  brother, Lawrence Jones, of Princeton; other relatives and a host of friends. 


Her mother, Mrs. Katie Jones, died a year ago and a week later an infant daughter of Mrs. Elliott passed away.  A son, Kenneth, died of diphtheria several years ago. 


She was a member of the Shiloh Methodist church and was affiliated with the Royal Neighbors lodge and Rebekahs of Hazleton.  The decedent's fortieth birthday was Tuesday. 


The body was brought to Hazleton this morning from Indianapolis in the  Harrington funeral car.

Hazleton, Ind., July 23--(Special)--Mrs. Ruth Jones Elliott, wife of Curtner  Elliott, a well-known resident of the Shiloh Church community died at 7  o'clock Wednesday night at the Methodist hospital in Indianapolis. 


Mrs. Elliott had been in the hospital for the past six weeks, and Monday underwent a goiter operation, and was apparently recovering nicely when stricken.  Two of Mrs. Elliott's sons had been at her bedside until 5 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, and were very hopeful of her recovery, when they received  word of her death. 


Mrs. Elliott was 40 years old last Tuesday. 


The body was brought to the home near here Thursday morning in the Harrington funeral car.  Funeral services have not been completed, although they will probably be held Sunday. 


Surviving to mourn the death of Mrs. Elliott, together with husband are five sons, Herman, Curtner Jr., Gordon, Bryant, and Shirley age 7; one sister Mrs. Emma Townsend, and brother, Lawrence Jones, both of Princeton. 


The  mother, Mrs, Katie Jones, and an infant daughter, preceeded Mrs. Elliott in  death a year ago, and a son Kenneth, died several years ago of diptheria. 


Mrs. Elliott was a member of the Shiloh Methodist church, the Royal Neighbors of America and Rebekah lodges.
