VETERAN MEMBER OF POLICE FORCE DIES

 

     Thomas J Garrett, 68, of 1425 S. Second St. veteran city policeman, died Monday (26 Jun 1944) following a recent operation.

 

      Until two months ago, when he became ill, had been serving in a radio patrol car.

 

      Mr. Garrett first was appointed to the Police Department Nov 12 1909, and served until the following May.  On April 11, 1918, he was reappointed fro a one-year term.

 

      Since his third appointment, Jan. 4, 1926, Mr. Garrett had served continuously with the local department.  During the administrations of Males and Griese, he drove the patrol wagon.

 

     A daughter, Mrs. Frank Hassel, Evansville, survives.  The body is in Robert Creek Mortuary Chapel.
