Crash Injuries Fatal to Mrs. Eldora Garrett

OWENSVILLE, January 30 - . Eldora Garrett, 38, succumbed Sunday night, January 29, 1956 to injuries suffered Sunday, January 22, 1956, in a two car crash on highway 65 south of here.  Her death came five days after the son, Tim, 18, also died of injuries suffered in the accident.

Both died in the Deaconess hospital where they were rushed following the crash.

Also injured in the crash were Frank J. Garrett, husband and father of Mrs. Garrett and Tim, and Richard Keith, young son and brother of the two victims. Both were less seriously injured and have recovered satisfactorily.  Mr. Garrett suffered a fractured leg and Richard Keith suffered minor head injuries.

Joan Welborn, 15, Owensville, and seriously injured in the crash, is still confined at the hospital.  She was a passenger in the Garrett car.

Joseph Seibert, 28, Poseyville, and Richard Mounts, 17, Cynthiana, driver and passenger, respectively, of the other car, were painfully injured but are reportedly recovering satisfactorily.

According to police reports the two cars collided as the Seibert car passed another vehicle on a hill and met the oncoming Garrett car practically head-on.  State Trooper Winifred Russell stated at the time of his investigation of the accident that the Seibert car was in the wrong lane of traffic and apparently travelling at an excessive rate of speed as skid marks of the car measured 147 feet, all in the wrong lane.

Mrs. Garrett is survived by the husband, Frank J.; two sons, Paul Wayne and Richard Keith; three sisters, Mrs. Virgil Campbell of Owensville, Mrs. Curtis Wagner of Danville, Ill., and Mrs. Zelman Johnson of Griffin; a brother, Lloyd of Poseyville; and the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Garrett of Poseyville.

Mrs. Garrett is at the Holder funeral home pending arrangements.
