George Rembe, 59, Francisco was found dead in the driveway of his home early Monday morning after being observed by a passerby on highway 64. Gibson county coroner Robert Kendall ruled the death a suicide, noting that the man died instantly from a gunshot wound to the right temple, self inflicted with a 16 guage shotgun around 7 a.m.

The sheriff's department was notified by Bob McCarty, operator of a restaurant near the Rembe home on the highway around 7:30 a.m.. Sheriff Roger Emmert said a short note was found on the kitchen table, apparently written by the dead man. It was reported Rembe was despondent over family problems.

Rembe was a lifetime member of the Francisco community where he farmed. He is survived by the wife Hazel; a brother Ben Rembe of Francisco and three nephews. Arrangements pending at Corn Mortuary in Oakland City.
