Ivan E. Birkla, 66, retired oil field worker, died at 8:15 a.m. Sunday in Gibson General hospital.


Birkla moved to Princeton five years ago from Browns, Illinois.  He was born on March 13, 1905 in Crawford county.


Survivors include his wife, Mary; one daughter, Mrs. Ann Partain of Beckmyer, Ill; one step-daughter, Mrs. Paul Alvis of Princeton; five step-sons, William Stott of Crown Point, Charles E. and David L. Stott, both of Tulsa, Okla; Paul Wesley Stott of Thailand and Larry Wayne Stott of Gary; one sister, Mrs. Alice Marone of Jeffersonville; 20 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.


Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Colvin Chapel, Rev. Alfred Weir officiating.  Burial will be in Patoka (Oak Hill) cemetery.  Friends may call at Colvin and Son mortuary after 3 p.m. Tuesday.
