Charles Barnes, 85, died at 1:25 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 1980, in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes.

 

Barnes was born Oct. 31, 1894 in Decker Township (to William & Ada May “Addie” (Hoy) Barnes.)

 

He resided in Hazleton most of his life and taught school for 40 years. He was principal of the Hazleton school for 25 years.

 

Barnes was a member of the Hazleton Masonic Lodge 420, F.&A.M.; Hazleton Order of the Eastern Star 317; Evansville Scottish Rite, 33rd degree member; Evansville Shrine Hadi Temple and the American Legion. 

 

He was a veteran of World War I.

 

Surviving Barnes are his wife, Maude, and several nieces and nephews.

 

Burial will be in the Hazleton I.O.O.F. Cemetery today.

 

Kendall Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
