J. Curtner "Curt" Elliott

 

OAKLAND CITY -- J. Curtner "Curt" Elliott, 86, died on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003 at his home in Oakland City. He was born on April 30, 1917 in Mt. Olympus to Curtner H. and Ruth Ann (Jones) Elliott.

 

He graduated from Mt. Olympus High School in 1935 and Coyne Electrical Institute in 1938. He was employed at Enos and Old Ben Coal Company for 40 years. He was the Financial Secretary of U.M.W.A. Local 4343 for many years. He owned and operated Elliott Electric Service for several years and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Oakland City for 55 years.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister.

 

He is survived by his wife, Mary Elma (Hunt) Elliott who he married on June 29, 1940; four daughters, Martha Elliott of Indianapolis, Carol Fisher of Petersburg, Paula Elliott of Chicago, Ill, and Mary Ann Elliott of Nashville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Tiffani Fisher of Chicago, Matthew Fisher of Nashville and Scott Erny and Richard Erny of Indianapolis; and three great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003 at 10 a.m. at First Church of the Nazarene in Oakland City. Rev. Darin D. Nossett will officiate. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery near Hazleton. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003 at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel in Oakland City and from 8 a.m. until service time at the church on Wednesday.
