Cledeth J. “C.J.” Hopper, 86, of Oakland City, IN died Friday July 2, 2004 2:47 P.M. at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Oakland City, IN

He was born on May 14, 1918 in Pike Co. IN to Virgil & Audie (Robling) Hopper.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth, Virgil Jr., and Prentice Hopper; sisters, Martha McClure, Irene Ross, and Maxine Heichelbech.

He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army.  He retired from R.& H. mine in Petersburg after 20 years of service.   He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Oakland City, IN and D.A.V.

Surviving is his wife of 57 years the former Mary Swan; children, Mary Louise Auer of Evansville, IN and Marjorie Eilene Tucker, Algae, KY; sisters, Pauline Smith Wapakoneta, Ohio, and Aline Brewer Greenfield, IN; nine grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday July 6, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Church of the Nazarene in Oakland City, IN, Rev. Darin Nossett officiating, burial to follow in Ashby Cemetery, Winslow, IN.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Monday at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel and from 8:00 A.M. until services on Tuesday at the church .
