Prentice R.“Deacon” Hume, 74, of Oakland City, IN died Thursday July 29, 2004 at 2:15 A.M. at his home.

He was born on August 12, 1929 in Pike Co., IN to Oscar & Golden (Wade) Hume.

He was a retired school teacher of 16 years, and retired after 20 years as laborer.  He was a member of Indiana State Labor Union, Petersburg Moose Lodge, American Legion Post # 256 in Oakland City, IN, Oakland City Eagles Lodge, V.F.W. Post in Petersburg, IN.  And he served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Surviving is wife of 30 years Former Ilene “Coleman” Hume; daughters, Debbie Stilwell, Petersburg, IN, Bridgette Winerberger, New Harmony, IN, Shelly Carr, Oakland City, IN, Sherry Dinpsey, Florida; sons, Roger Hume, Keensburg, IL, Terry Hume, Plainville, IN; step daughter, Pam Weinberg, Oakland City, IN; sixteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brothers, Douglas Hume, Indianapolis, IN and Fred Hume, Oakland City, IN.

Graveside services will be Tuesday August 3, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. at Williams Cemetery, east of Oakland City, IN. Rev. Rodney Walls officiating.

Visitation will be from 8:00 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. Tuesday at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel Oakland City, American Legion Post # 256 will conduct military graveside services.
