Lyndon E. Pirkle, 82, of Oakland City, IN passed away Friday October 13, 2006 at 6:17 A.M. from a traffic accident near Oakland City, IN.

He was born on August 19, 1924 in Oakland City to Omer and Etta (Leighty) Pirkle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step mother, Estelyn Grimes Pirkle; brother Karol Pirkle; sister Geraldine Dishon.

He served in the Army during World War II.  He was a graduate of Evansville College in 1950; retired from Old Ben Coal after nine years of employment; worked at Emge Packing; owned and operated a Grocery Store both in Ft. Branch, IN and was a school teacher since 1983.

Surviving is his wife of 33 years the former Annie (Feaster) Pirkle; son, Stephen (Dianne) Pirkle of Newburgh, IN; daughters Trudy (Gerald) Bledsoe of Ft. Branch, IN, Lisa (Tom) Parker of Evansville, IN; two step-sons, Scott (Julie) Wallis of Princeton, IN and Kenneth (Ruth Ann) Wallis of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren, Adam Bledsoe, Mima Pirkle, Tobias Pirkle, Nigel Parker, Sarah Parker, Elizabeth Wallis, Abby Wallis, J.R. Wallis, Kuri Wallis, Dylan Wallis, Harrison Wallis.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday October 17, 2006 at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel in Oakland City, burial in Montgomery Cemetery, Rev. Glyn Pfohl officiating.

Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 P.M. Monday at the chapel and from 8:00 A.M. until services on Tuesday.
