Winton W. Potts, 85, of Oakland City, IN entered eternal rest on Tuesday July 11, 2006 at 6:00 P.M. at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Oakland City, IN.

He was born on June 6, 1921 in Daviess Co. IN to Cleve and Daisy (Baldwin) Potts.

He was member of Oak Grove General Baptist Church for 45 years serving as Deacon and held varies offices in the church for over 40 years.

He worked at Servel for 13 years and Whirlpool Corp for 19 years both in Evansville.  He served in the Army during World War II as a TEC-5, and received 5 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and Victory Medal.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; a sister; father-in-law; and son Jerry in 1983.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting.  His favorite pastime was driving to his woods and watching for wildlife accompanied with his special dog “Tiny.”

Surviving is his wife of 57 years Mary (Doades) Potts, they were married on Sept. 10, 1949; daughter and son-in-law, Monica and Mike Atkins of Oakland City, IN; son’s and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Donna Potts of Newburgh, IN, Edwin and Lucy Potts of Fairfield, IL, Michael and Melanie Potts of Oakland City, IN; seventeen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Oneida Campbell of Evansville, IN and Lucille McKinney of Washington, IN.

Funeral services will be Saturday July 15,2006 at 10:00 A.M. at Oak Grove General Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Phillips officiating, burial in Ebenezer Cemetery near Washington, IN.

Visitation will be Friday from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel and from 8:00 A. M. until services on Saturday at the Church.
