Gresham Warner Shoultz

 

     Gresham Warner Shoultz, 88 of Newburgh, died Thursday, February 16, 2006, at his home.  He is now reunited with the love of his life, Lavon and the good Lord.

     Gresham was born in Gibson County and was raised on a farm.  After marrying Lavon, they moved to Newburgh.  Gresham and Lavon had been married for 67 years and raised five children, 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

     Gresham served in the South Pacific during WWII in the U.S. Army.  He retired from his own construction company after 50 years.

     Gresham was a longtime member of Epworth United Methodist Church, where over the years he served on several committees.  He recieved an award for his 51 years of perfect attendance for Sunday School last year.

     Gresham and Lavon loved to travel, and had traveled to every state.  They made many trips to Alaska and Hawaii to see their grandchildren.

     Gresham loved his family and was so proud of his grandchildren.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, on brother, wife, Lavon; and grandson Shawn.

     Gresham is survived by his son, Leroy Shoultz and wife, Rita Jo, from Homer, Alaska; daughters Donna Lerche and husband, Sam of Newburth; and Sherry Garner and husband, Fred, of Newburgh; son, Greg Shoultz and wife Joye, of Newburgh; and daughter, Neena McCullough and husband, Chuck, of Newburgh.

     Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2006, at Epworth United Methodist Church, officiated by Reverend Mike Monahan.  Graveside services will be held at 12 noon at Shiloh Cemetery in Hazleton.  Friends may call from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Alexander Newburgh Chapel and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.
