Lavon Shoultz

 

 

Lavon Shoultz, 85, of Newburgh, died March 7, 2003, at her residence.

 

Lavon was preceded in death by her mother and father, one sister, three brothers, and a grandson, Shawn Sutton.

 

Lavon was born and raised in Gibson County, Ind., then later moved to the Newburgh area with her husband. Lavon was a loving mother and housewife. She was also the secretary and treasurer for her husband's construction company until they both retired. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church for 50 years and was a member of the Lady's Quilting Circle.

 

Lavon loved traveling the USA and Europe, which included several trips to Alaska and Hawaii to see her grandchildren. Her best enjoyment out of life was taking care of her family.

 

Lavon is survived by her husband, Gresham W. Shoultz. Their happy marriage of 67 years was blessed with five children and their spouses: son, Leroy and his wife, Rita Jo Shoultz, of Homer, Alaska, daughter, Donna Shoultz and her husband, Sam Lerche, of Newburgh, Ind., daughter, Sherry Shoultz and her husband, Fred Garner, of Newburgh, Ind., son, Greg and his wife, Joye Shoultz, of Newburgh, Ind., and daughter, Neena Shoultz and her husband, Chuck McCullough, of Newburgh, Ind.; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Pheobe Bilderback of Princeton, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2003, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, officiated by Reverend Compton and Reverend Weller.

 

Burial will be in Shilo (sic) Church Cemetery in Hazleton, Ind. Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2003.

 

Friends may call Sunday, March 9, 2003, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Alexander Newburgh Chapel.
