Norman D. Stoffel, 88, of Mackey IN died Monday August 2, 2004 at 4:45 P.M. at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN.

He was born on June 7, 1916 in Barton Township to Arthur & Cora (Busing) Stoffel.

He owned and operated Stoffel Machine Shop for 21 years near Mackey, IN.  He retried from Whirlpool Corporation as milwright after 16 years of service, and he was a retired farmer.

He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the Army’s 129th Infantry from 1941-1945 in the U.SA. , Iceland, European Theatre, including the invasion of Normandy.

He was a member of Barton Lions Club, charter member of the Somerville American Legion Post #462 for 59 years and a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Buckskin, Ind.  And a past 4-H Leader.

Surviving is his wife of 54 and a half years, the former Frances Meier Stoffel; sons and daughter-in-Law, Steve & Brenda Stoffel of Ferdinand, IN., Gary & Katie Stoffel of Greensburg, IN, Larry & Brenda Stoffel of Mackey, IN; seven grandchildren, Jason & Ashley Stoffel of Ferdinand, IN, Pam Stoffel of Raleigh, NC, Cindy Stoffel of Greensburg, IN, Julie, Chris and Jessica Stoffel of Mackey, IN.

Funeral Services will be Friday August 6, 2004 2:00 P.M. at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel in Oakland City, IN,  burial in St. John’s Cemetery in Buckskin, IN, Rev. Kenneth Kramer officiating,

Visitation will be from 3:00-9:00 P.M. Thursday and from 8:00 A.M. until services on Friday at the Chapel.  Military graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion Post, # 462.
