Elnora Whitman, 89, of Oakland City, IN passed on Friday, Jan 28, 2005 at 10:25 A.M. at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton, IN.

 

She was born on June 9, 1915 in Pike Co. IN to Shelby and Mary (Doerner) Mason.

 

She was a housewife and mother, attended Oakland City Church of God and Trinity Untied Methodist Church in Oakland City, IN.  She was a Gray Lady at Oakland City School for several years, member of Red Hat Society and Bell Ringers Club at Good Samaritan Nursing Home and also served as Vice- President of residence council at the home.  She was President of Resident Council at Prairie Village Center in Washington, IN.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Whitman on May 10, 1969; brothers, Chester and Eddie Mason; sisters, Lora Ropp and Dora Grubb.

 

Surviving are:  Daughters and son-in-laws, Lynette Logsdon of St. Louis, MO, Lucretia and Ronald Houchins of Francisco, IN, Pamela and Michael Fetcher of Francisco, IN; sons and daughter-in-laws, Larry and Sharon Whitman of Oakwood, IL, Darrell and Angie Whitman of Bicknell, IN, Alan and Joyce Whitman of Oakland City, IN; sisters, Alma Hunley and Eliza Austin, both of Oakland City, IN,  Phyllis Riley of Somerville, IN; 20 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb.1, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel, Bro. Michael Marsh officiating with burial in Montgomery Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be Monday from 3:30-8:00 P.M. and from 8:00 A.M. until services on Tuesday at the Chapel.
