Jesse Alan Akers, 58, passed away on Monday December 18, 2006 at his home in Mt. Olympus, Indiana. He worked at the Wabash Coal Mine in Keensburg for 20 years. He also served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was awarded a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart and the Vietnam Service Medal. 

He was born on
September 12, 1948 in Princeton to Elvin Ray & Virginia (Ivy) Akers, both deceased. Also preceding him in death was his infant brother, George Earl Akers. 

Jesse is survived by his wife, Nancy Akers of Mt. Olympus; 2 children, Emily Akers and her boyfriend Andy Downey of Princeton and J.J. Akers at home; 2 sisters, Bonnie (Bill) Hamer of Francisco and Vicki (Gary) Willis of Francisco; 2 brothers, Jim (Deanie) Akers of Princeton and Burl (Connie) Akers of Evansville; several nieces and nephews. 

There will be no visitation or services at the Colvin Funeral Home, who is in charge of arrangements.
